Headbangers Ball es un programa de televisión que consta de videos musicales de heavy metal que salen al aire en MTV2, MTV Australia, MTV Europa, MTV Adria (la filial de MTV que abarca la antigua Yugoslavia), MTV Brand New, MTV Portugal, MTV Finlandia, MTV Arabia, MTV Noruega, MTV Suecia, MTV Dinamarca, MTV Turquía, MTV Hungría y MTV Japón. El espectáculo comenzó en MTV el sábado, 18 de abril de 1987, tocando videos musicales de heavy metal y hard rock de conocidos artistas oscuros. El espectáculo que se ofreció fue un Top 40 que duró toda la noche.

Sin embargo, con la aparición de la musica alternativa en los años 90, la pertinencia de Headbangers Ball entró en cuestión, y el show fue finalmente cancelado en 1995. Casi diez años más tarde, con la aparición de nuevas bandas heavy metal, las cuales son muy populares hoy en dia, el programa se ha vuelto a introducir en MTV2 y viene triunfando.

MTV2 Headbangers Ball: The Revenge es un álbum doble de compilación de música metal lanzado en asociación con el programa de MTV2 Headbangers Ball. El CD incluye 38 pistas, con poco mas de 2 horas y media de música. La selección de pistas incluye rarezas, actuaciones en vivo, así como las pistas inéditas.
